1979 BMW Alpina B6 #66/533
Up for sale is this rare 1979 BMW Alpina B6, number 66 of only 533 ever produced on the E21 platform between 1978 and 1983. This one has been upgraded with a Metric Mechanic-built 3.8L M30 inline-six installed in 2005, built to 3800 Rally spec and rated around 285 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission, lightweight flywheel, and a 3.45 limited-slip differential added in 2019. Originally finished in Topaz Brown, the car was refinished in a deep dark blue shade similar to Tanzanite Blue Metallic.
It also features re-chromed Euro bumpers, fresh Alpina stripes added in April 2026, and paint protection film around the body except for the roof. It sits on staggered 15” Alpina wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires, along with H&R springs, Bilstein shocks, strut tower brace, adjustable rear sway bar, and upgraded zinc-plated brake calipers. Inside, the cabin has black cloth upholstery with blue and green striping, Recaro front seats, rear headrests, salt-and-pepper carpets, replacement headliner, Alpina-style wood shift knob, and a push-button Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo. The 380mm MOMO steering wheel fronts a 260 km/h speedometer, 8k-rpm tachometer, analog clock, and extra VDO gauges in the center stack.
Odometer shows 87k kilometers (around 54k miles). The engine setup includes H-beam rods, tri-metal rod bearings, 10.25:1 compression, single-row timing chain, Alpina tubular header, and dual exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers. Comes with owner’s manual, reproduction Alpina Classic window sticker, clean California title, and April 2026 smog test records.
